chest pains? - August 30th 2010, 03:16 AM

i've slipped back into disordered eating. i'm not really sure how i feel about it and i guess that's not really the part i want to talk about. to label it it would be anorexia with some binging.

is it bad that i've been getting excruciating heart pains and stomach pains? i'm not purging so i'm really confused about the chest pains.

I'd need to know more about the character of the pain to pinpoint it more readily. Is it a stabbing pain or a dull pain?

The chest pain could be caused by spasms in your chest area if it is a stabbing pain. If it is a dull pain it could be heartburn. Your stomach pain, depending on the character of the pain could either be ulcers, intestinal issues, indigestion, or other such illnesses. I would definitely see a doctor if these pains continue. They could more easily diagnose it and help you to feel better.

Try to think of what you were doing before you get these pains. It might help you figure out what's going on.

Additionally, I am glad that you are not purging. Keep it up.

Laura,

Chest pains could be happening for a variety of reasons. Heart pain and stomach pain (and pain in general) is NEVER something to take lightly; it could mean that something is wrong in your body and you need to get it checked out right away. Call your doctor and ask him/her what's going on--or even just talk to the nurse on the phone, and see what they suggest. They might want you to come in to check you out, and try as best you can to do what they suggest; it is always better to be safe than sorry, you know?

Take care of yourself.
