Question Sensing a Pattern - September 14th 2010, 12:40 AM

I think I'm starting to notice a pattern with my eating habits. It's like on weekdays I don't eat a lot, and I tend to cut back my calories per meal. By the weekends, though, I get really hungry and I eat a lot. Then I feel bad about it and the cycle starts over. How do I get out of it, and would it even be considered close to an ED?

hey there! i don't know how to edit it, but i just wanted to let you know that you can't post calories or numbers like that. if you could edit that it would be great

we can't really diagnose, but it does sound like you have disordered eating. i've heard people say that eating smaller meals throughout the day is easier than a few big ones, so i would try that at first.

Sorry about that. I must have missed it in the rules, but thanks for letting me know. And do you have any tips on sticking to that? ^^' I've tried smaller meals, but I don't seem able to stick to it at all.

If you feel that you have a problem with eating, I would advise that you speak to a doctor or a specialist before your problem gets worse. It sounds like the making of an eating disorder but I'm not a doctor.

Take care.

To get out of it you need to eat regular amounts of food all week. You can avoid the binge that way, and the feelings that go with it. Try to eat foods that are "fuel" for your body, and you know are good for it, so that you dont feel as bad about eating them. If you really are worried about this you should take the next step and ask someone you trust for help. If you cant stop the habits, it is quite possibly the beginning of an eating disorder.

I did talk to one of my friends, and she said she thinks I'm getting an ED (she used to be anorexic and bulimic :/) so I'm now working to convince myself that I don't need to do this. Thanks for the advice, though, guys.
