today was good until; - February 19th 2009, 07:18 PM

i got on the scale. pretty descent day. then i saw the number and i flipped. im trying to recover from bulimia incase you were wondering. but it's so hard, i can't get that number out of head and now my mind's like maybe you should take diet pills and go out for a run and watch what you eat for dinner tonight, or maybe you can get out of dinner. but then i'm like wait no this isn't right- i'm trying to break this cycle and stop. ah fuck.

Hey Kady. I'm sorry you're going through this. I think when someone has an eating disorder, even when they are in recovery, they will always have eating disorder tendencies of thinking. Know that you are stronger than that number and as long as you are healthy and feel good about yourself that is all that matters. Maybe throw away the scales and just be healthy?

tried to; well gave it to my mom but i sneak in there to check once in a while. im trying not to freak out right now. its just still in the back of my head.

What if, while you're in recovery, you get all of the scales out of the house? Or, if your mom wants one for her, have her lock it up somewhere without knowing where the key is?

Hey,

Sorry your going through this but I want to help and I'm not trying to trigger you but just read it and read it again and again til you have it drilled and drilled the right way!

1. Not eating WILL make you fat

2. Diet pills, mainly fat burners only boost your metabolism and take off water retained weight. They have no effect on fat cells which is what you need to shrink/kill. Fat Burners also cause damange to your sweat glands, nervous system in some cases and cause frequent head-aches.

The best way is watching your calories. Go on a diet, and burn more calories than you take in. Exercise daily, I wish I could lay you out a perfect diet/routine but I can't on here due to rules. If you want it, shoot me an e-mail: brendan@theuniversalforums.com

yeah i know ovbiously ED's are bad and all that but i don't know its like my way of coping when im stressed or something bad happens.

I know how you feel. I've grown numb to the scale number; its calories that hit me. It feels like too much a lot and I panic. But you know what? It is a part of recovering. I have freakouts, i have thoughts all the time. But eventually, you learn to ignore them. They will be there, but you'll gather that indifference.
