Exclamation Another Question...Periods!?! - October 7th 2010, 05:39 AM

Okay still doing really well but have a couple of questions actually to do with girly kinda stuff
I haven't had my period for about a year now, and I actually lost it pretty much straight after I cut down on eating...I hadn't actually lost much weight, so does that mean to get it back I have to gain ALL my weight back, like do I have to be the weight I lost it at...to get it back? Get me?
Another thing, is there any possibility I won't be able to have kids? Is there like a time limit where say if you don't get it for 2 years you become infertile??

Hey Emma. I'm glad you're doing really well.

As for getting your period back, you have to be a certain weight before you are able to have a period, so you might need to put back all the weight on to get it back. But this could be a good topic to speak to your doctor about. Especially the infertility, that would be a good thing to ask your doctor. They could do some tests to see how things are going, and see whether you have damaged your fertility or not.

I hope things go okay, take care.

You don't have to be a certain weight to have a period, or to lose one. Gaining weight will help, in the long run, but in the end your body has to be stable and healthy for you to get back your period. Plus, you're at the age where they are still sporadic. But if you are worried, talk to your doctor. They can probably answer your questions better than we can.
