Smile Laura... - November 10th 2010, 06:37 PM

So Laura is a girl I sometimes meet when I go see my therapists since she meets the ones I do. She has anorexia nervosa, and she's been actually sick, I don't know her very well, but today she told me her story. Her friends were triggering her all the time so she decided she had to lost weight. She went on a diet and then she started to obsses about anything she'd eat (as most of us have done). By the time she realized she was sick, she was at a point where she was completely devasted, her body could do nothing and so she had to spend the whole summer sitting in a wheelchair because every movement she did, she'd be loosing weight since she refused to eat and she had no energy to keep on living. She was taken to therapist then, and she was willing to do anything to get better. Doctors told her she'd have to be put into an hospital which was far away from her home. She was broken inside and then she did the bravest thing anyone with an ED could do: she didn't give up and so she started to eat.
I saw her for the first time by the end of August and I'll always remember the comment my mum did about her: Oh my gosh! She looks like the walking-death...
I see her everyday since she studies in my high-school and sometimes in the therapists' place. She's put on weight and now she can walk and enjoys eating at break time with her friends and so on, even though she's still very thin. My mum, when she saw her today said: Wow, I can't believe it's her.. she's much more beautiful now
I'm glad Laura has got so much better before it was too late. She didn't went to hospital in the end.
People like her is so inspirational for me, and to know someone is doing good on recovery makes me feel like struggling again because everyone could do well. I don't know if I could be as strong as Laura has been, but for now I'll try.
I hope this has been inspiring for you as well

Hey Esther,

This is an inspiring story, and I'm really glad talking to her made you want to keep trying. Keep fighting hun.

She whispered to her own reflection "I will be strong."
