Angry What my friend did - July 27th 2011, 01:37 AM

A few months ago I started stress eating because my parents wanted a divorce and my mom got drunk all the time. I used to not gain weight from overeating. But suddenly I put on a lot of weight. One of my friends really didn't understand what I was going through and was always trying to find ways to make me seem fatter than her. She would always bring up my weight and eventually I got upset. I started cutting back on junk food and began a healthy diet plan. It worked, but not fast enough. I was still being teased. I stopped eating breakfast and lunch and I was constantly staring at my reflection in the mirror. Once I got a pound lighter than my friend, she told me that I shouldn't be this thin and that I should be above the weight I was when ahe was teasing me. She says she can be this thin because shes french! What do stereotypes have to do with weight? She knows about my anorexia and I'm afraid of how she might use this new knowledge. Doesn't she realize that she started this?

I think you and your friend needs to have a talk. She isn't treating you right. She's bringing you down. And hunny, you don't need that. Find someone better. I'm here if ya need anything

To be honest your relationship with your friend doesn't sound very healthy at all. I think you'll be a lot happier in life if you just cut her out of it. Friends are supposed to support you, and help hold you up when you need them, not take that chance to tear you down to make themselves feel better.

Friends are supposed to support you, not control how much you weigh, or make fun of you for that matter. Find a new friend who treats you better hun.

Your friend did not treat you right, and never again should you allow somebody to affect your self image in such a way. Nobody can tell you that you need to lose weight except for a doctor. I would talk to her about the way this makes you feel, her making fun of your weight for being too large or too small. She needs to know the way it affects you with your illness.
Are you currently seeing a counselor for your eating disorder, and on the road to to recovery?
I wish you well! PM me if you ever need!
