Not sure of what to do - August 6th 2011, 11:39 PM

So I'm a ballerina and I know I have to have to meet certain requirments to have the correct body to become a professional. I try to eat halthy but when I look in the studio mirrors or my full length mirror all I can think is ugly and fat. I'm 5'4 and my mom says I'm naturally thin but I can't help but hate the image staring back at me. Sometimes I'll only eat one meal in a day, fibbing to my mom that I ate breakfast and lunch. Othertimes I'll do crazy exercise spending a whole day working out, not eating, only drinking water. Could I possibly have an eating disorder or am I just pysching myself out?

Hi Liz

It sounds as though, what your describing, could be an eating disorder.
I know it might be hard, but you have to eat. Try to force yourself to eat, don't let yourself get too deep into this.
Maybe try talking to your Mum about it... she could help you in so many ways before this gets really out of control.

Remember that you are beautiful.

We cannot diagnose you with an eating disorder, however, the symptoms you are portraying are not healthy. If you want to lose weight, I would advise you to go to your doctor and get a plan designed to help you lose weight the healthy way. However, if you are naturally thin, you don't need to worry about this.
I would also advise you to see a counselor, if you are showing signs of an eating disorder.
Stay strong, PM me if you need lovely.

Hey there.

Because we're not medically trained we can not tell you for sure if you have an eating disorder or not.

It sounds to me like there could be some issues surrounding food and your body image. And from there I would suggest you seeing your doctor, see what they say and take any help they offer to you to help support you through this.

You should be eating breakfast, lunch and dinner a day or six smaller meals through out the day with snacks, of course eating the right amount of carbs, protein, fats etc. Also not eating the right amount can affect your mood so it is important you're eating enough and getting the right vitamins etc.

I hope this helps. Stay strong.
Jessie
