So, my dog since 4 years old (we got him when he was.. 6 months or weeks) was put down last Tuesday.
But even a week before that or so, I just.. haven't been eating much. I don't have the mindset "I'm fat, so I shouldn't eat". I mean, I do believe I'm fat (even before I was put on 4 months bed-rest from serious knee injury and just got back into WALKING), however that isn't what is running through my mind. It is literally "I am not hungry". I know it may be "Oh you were probs overeating and now your body is telling you" but.. It's weird. I'll go days without eating, and I still won't be hungry. And I'm barely eating a fraction of what I used to. ...Why is this happening? I'm starting sports again and I don't need to pass out on the field.. What can I do?! Fource myself to eat? Thanks guys RIP To my dog, Max. He was the best friend, I've had him since I was 4. I love you sweetheart, you'll always be in my heart. Life will be hard without you, but I'm so glad you are out of pain.

Hey Abigail
![]() I am so, so sorry to hear about what happened to you're dog. It's awful to lose a pet. My dog was put down at Christmas and I was (and still am!) completely heartbroken. It's like loosing a member of the family. So difficult. It's still so raw for you as well, so if I'm honest I'm not suprised you've lost you're appetite at the moment, you're going through a really hard and difficult time. It took me ages to be able to look at a picture of my dog without bursting into tears but with time it does get easier, it doesn't make you miss them any less, you can start to smile when you think about them though. I think it's really good you're so aware you aren't eating enough food at the moment. This means you can make a consious effort to make sure your eating. Even if you're not hungry you're body still needs food to fuel you're body to function. As you mentioned you're begining sport again so you need to be making sure you're giving your body what it needs Personally, I don't think it sounds like you have the mind set of an anorexic person, but you need to be careful that doesn't start to happen. Make sure you're eating your three meals a day and make sure they are healthy and balanced with what you need for your body ![]() Look after yourself and keep talking to us for support, we're here! Take care <3 |

As Jess, I don't think you're developing anorexia. I think it's part of the grief of your dog. I would see a doctor about it.
When you are thinking you are not hungry, I would just keep telling yourself, "I'll just eat this." And eat a meal, even if it's small. You just need to find the will to eat, even if your apatite has decreased since the death. I'm so sorry for your dog, and I hope you will feel back to your regular self shortly! |
