Question Am I? *PLEASE READ!* - August 22nd 2011, 08:59 PM

I think that I am an overeater...I could sit down & eat a who cake in like 20 minunets, or I will just snack for no reason...I weigh way too much...I try to eat right etc. but I just can't...
I think it is due to depression from the death of my grandmother, this comming November I will prob. go up to Mass. to visit my other grandmother & I am embarassed.I want to wear cute clothes & look my best,I hate to wear a swimsuit and it looks like I have a double chin... Does anyone think I have an ED?
Please help!

I'm not sure if you have an Eating Disorder based on the information that you gave us. Eating a whole cake can be unhealthy. Snacking is not. The healthy way to snack is to eat snacks in moderation. Maybe try some healthy snacks. I always found apples and peanut butter to be really good! Or those snack packs that have few calories (Not going to state the amount of calories). Eating is a good thing! But with eating, you should exercise in moderation. The best dieting is to eat healthy, and exercise.

If you're worried about your weight, then make a change. You have to be willing to make the effort. It makes sense that your eating habits developed from depression. That's how mine developed too. You have to make the changes that you want to see in yourself. The best way to do that is to eat healthy and to exercise. A thing that helped me was to make a menu for each day on what I was going to eat. Just healthy meals and snacks. But you have to stick to it. It isn't easy, but it's doable. I know exactly how you feel about not feeling comfortable in a swim suit. I feel the same.To feel better about yourself, it would help to list the amazing things about you that you like.

I'm sorry that your grandmother passed away. I am really close to my grandma, so I can only imagine what you're going through right now. <3 Maybe you should talk to someone about all that you're going through. Holding it inside is one of the worst things you can do. And it's a HUGE contributor to an Eating Disorder. Plus, talking about your emotions can really help. It would be hard at first, but it gets easier. Plus, you can work through the grief of losing your grandmother in a healthy way!
