Question Something wrong with me???? - August 30th 2011, 04:38 AM

Ok, so a while ago someone told me that I was being sick about the whole eating disorder thing. Cuz I said that I really wanted to lose weight and stuff, and they came back with something like: People actually have a disorder like this and they can't stop!! So I'm wondering, what qualifies it as being an eating disorder, because I also have a self hate problem when sometimes I feel like throwing up is my only choice. So what's the deal here people???

Also kinda getting sucked back into this again, threw up today and was gonna go running, but didn't. Not only am I bulimic, I'm a lazy one, apparently....

Hey Tristyn,

I'm sorry you've been suffering lately. What kind of person told you that you had an eating disorder? If it was just a friend, he or she cannot diagnose you with an eating disorder, and neither can I. Neither of us are professionals, and do not have the experience to make a diagnosis.

However, I can tell you that throwing up and obsessive behaviors are unhealthy. Have you ever talked to a professional about how you're feeling? I would highly recommend you see a professional, and get a more precise diagnosis and analysis of your behavior. If you are seriously worried about your weight, seeing a doctor would also be a great idea because that way, you can obtain a diet plan and exercise plan that is healthy and can help you lose weight without harming your body.

Stay safe, and love yourself! Message me if you need ANYTHING!

She said it was sick of you to want to lose weight? Many people want to lose weight or change somthing about them because they have a poor body image and low self confidence. Your friend might not understand what you mean, or understand that weight and throwing up is somthing you deal with. There are alot of people that do not have eating disorders they and do not have to lose weight who will talk about how they need to or want to lose weight. People with eating disorders, or people who know people with an ED might find this insensitive and frustrating to hear at times.
Most people understand but can't comprehend what its like to go thru an eating disorder. Alot of people think on the lines of, "oh your anerexic, then eat...or your bulimic, then don't throw up" they just can't grasp the how much the person with the disorder struggles.
you could have an eating disorder, or you might not, only a doctor or therapist would be able to tell for sure. If you want to lose weight then do it in a healthy way. Try to find a weight that's right for your height that your comfortable with.

Well if you are concerned about your vomiting and self hate issues and if you are wondering if they are connected I would suggest seeing a therapist. I had anorexia and bulimia cause by depression and anxiety. Every time I felt anxious or really worthless i would vomit. Not because i wanted to be thin but because I couldn't deal with the realities of my own life, all the pressure at once. My therapist and everyone noticed i was losing a lot of weight I got down to [Edited] Lbs for someone who is 5'4" is very dangerous. My heart and breathing started acting up and I did everything in my power to gain my weight back. I was sent to a specialist who deals with eating disorders and he monitors my routine. My anti-anxiety meds were increased hoping that would help and I am now [Edited] I still have a little bit more to go but I have to get used to calming myself down when i get stressed instead of throwing up.
