Question feel bloated - September 9th 2011, 06:54 PM

its wierdd because see i only ate a little today..skipped lunch and only had breakfast so far...i lost some weight and am already underweight...but my stomach hurts a little and when i look the the mirror i feel a little bigger than ususul..is that because maybe my stomach hurts a little?

Hey there,

Remember, I, nor anybody on TeenHelp is a doctor. However, I believe since you have skipped lunch, your digestive system is not reacting well, causing you to bloat. Skipping meals is very bad for you, and causes your metabolism to slow, and hold onto food longer so that your body can continue having nutrients, and it could very well cause bloating.

I would talk to a doctor about your want to lose weight. You have already said you are underweight, therefore, I'm pretty sure you do not need to lose anymore. I know it's hard to ask, but talking to a professional, such as a counselor or therapist about your body image can really help you. You don't have to have these overwhelming thoughts anymore, and your stomach will thank you for it! These habits will harm you not only now, but in the long run.

I agree with Traci. It could be because your digestive system is not reacting well with not eating, so it's trying to compensate. Also, there could be a number of reasons as to why you're bloating. You could be about to start your period. Have you drank a lot of water to help curb your appetite? Because if you have done that, then that could be a result of bloating. However, I don't reccomend doing that. I hope you feel better soon!

yeahh i eat less now and because of that i drink like 4 water bottles...and usually when i get my period i don't feel bloated i just get some cramps or a headache. haven't gotten that yet tho.
