It isn't impossible or unheard of, if that's what you're asking. There are those who recover just fine on their own without any professional help. Therapy does help a lot of people and I believe it helps make recovery possible for those who may not have been able to get to that point if left on their own. The important thing here is that your friend has the support of her parents and you- many people don't have that or feel as if they don't, which makes recovery difficult. I'm glad to hear that your friend is doing better now. I hope she continues to make progress.

The most important thing is to be there for ur friend and let her know that you're going to be by her side until she recovers. No one can force her to do it, she has to decide on her own ya know? I hope she makes a quick recovery.

Some people find that recovering on their own is too hard, and they need the support of others and they find councillors good people to talk to. Other people find they can do it on their own and with the support of friends and family. Everyone is different and finds different ways easier to recover. If she feels she needs a councillor or somebody proffessional it would definately be best for her to go and see one however if she keeps up the good progress, she may want to keep going the way she is

Seems as though you're happy with your answers. I'm going to close this thread, as there are also more active threads by the same user.
OP- feel free to create a new thread if you have more questions.
