Question What are recovery hospitals like? - September 12th 2011, 12:06 AM

I Might have to go into recovery soon. I was wondering if it's good or bad. I mean obviously different people will perceive it differently, but I would appreciate if you told me the scariest thing about recovery

It also depends on the hospital, because each place you go to will have different policies and some different treatments. I was never hospitalized for an eating disorder, but I was for depression. My experience was a very good one and oddly enough, I think it was the best thing that ever happened to me. I actually get sad because I miss the people I met

Anyways, the scariest thing for me was the fact that we were not allowed to contact the outside world. Literally. TV was limited, but we did get occasional nights where we could see a movie. And phone calls were only supposed to be 5minutes each night, though most of us would make a schedule so we could call up to 3 people

Other than that, I was lucky to get in with such a great group of people and wonderful staff. It might be weird to have people around you at all times, too. But it may also be nice.

Try not to be scared about it. It's a good thing if you actually want to get help.

So you have gray hair and you're only 26

that's just another reason I love you...

It really does depend on the hospital like Kelly said. Generally the goals for treatment might vary from hospital to hospital. The best thing you can do is go in there with an open mind, and a willingness to put effort into recovery. None of it will matter if you don't try, or if you don't want it.

I too went to a hospital for depression. I went there because I was ready to recover. As hard as it was, I put my effort into it, and it turned out great.

Good luck! :]

The scariest thing was imagining a life without my disorder. I did not think I could possibly exist without it.

Once you're well, you gain perspective.
