Exclamation I'm worried, but confused, does this count? - November 18th 2011, 03:31 AM

I'm not sure if this counts as a eating disorder, or some anxiety thing, that's why I'm posting to ask.

I have trouble eating, it's as if my mind tells me that most foods aren't safe, and I just can't eat them, in fear of getting sick. It's starting to affect my body, because I get super tired really fast, just running in gym makes me feel like I'm going to pass out or puke! I'm constantly feeling hungry, then when I eat my stomach hurts. I'm constantly in pain and feeling sick because of this, and I've had it for almost two years now.

I have no clue what the heck to do... I'm just worried that this is going to really get bad soon.

Hey Madison,

Unfortunately, here on TeenHelp, we cannot diagnose you with an eating disorder. But I can tell you by the way you are going, you are well on your way. I would recommend talking to an adult you trust about possibly seeing a doctor or a professional. I know it can be really hard approaching somebody, especially a parent, about issues you are having, but at this point, I think it's the best way to not allow any eating disorder to go any further. Perhaps you can write them a note, and give it to them. Maybe if it's a teacher, you can email them saying you need to talk about something personal, and then they can keep you after class for a brief discussion. But first telling an adult you trust is a huge step.

Then, if you need, find professional help. Talking about your eating habits with somebody professional is a great way to be able to stop worrying about then. I'm going to tell you, one of the biggest ways I add safe food is I stop reading the nutrition facts all together. If I read them, it doesn't matter if it's fruit or vegetables, I will become scared to eat them.

Now, what kind of sick do you get? Do you self induce sickness, or are you getting sick from particular food? If you are self inducing sickness, this is a really dangerous habit that needs to stop. It affects everything on your body, from slowing your organs, to affecting your brain. It's not worth it. As somebody who has suffered from this habit years, I have so many cavities inbetween my teeth, I can promise you, it's not worth the falling apart of your body. If it's something that is happening, I plead you to see a doctor. This can be caused by the slowing of your metabolism caused by starvation, but can be a number of very very serious things that you need to have checked out, since I cannot diagnose anything but only give suggestions.

If you need any more advice, feel free to reply, or PM me.
