Night time binging - November 23rd 2011, 03:53 AM

I need help. Bad. Every night the past few nights, i just sit for hours with countless trips to the kitchen eating and eating and eating. I do pretty good during the day. But then at night i just CRUMBLE. I have a feeling it's linked to emotional problems. But I have no idea how to stop it. Any suggestions? at all?? I have lost like, [EDITED] this year. and i need to keep going. but im SERIOUSLY stuck. like, im trapped in this food lie. like, i know i can get away with it at night im alone and not thinking and nobody else knows, and its just AWFUL...

I was the exact same way! I would practically starve myself all day then just eat and eat and eat all night. It was a horrible feeling but i think it is because you just need control cuz thats why i starved myself, i felt like i had no control so i controled my eating and i lost it again when i binged. This is a hard subject because everybody is different. I suggest though try to talk yourself out of it or drink water and lots of it. I hope i helped a little bit! Stay strong!

Hey there, I know exactly how you feel. I've been binging for a year and though I haven't gained too much weight, it still hurts to be bigger than I used to be, y'know? I've actually started using self-harm alternatives to help keep me from binging. I find that writing about why you started binging and why you want to eat is important to help fix the problem. Also, if you eat more at night... try to keep reminding yourself that nighttime is for sleeping and force yourself to remember that food won't help you with your emotional problems. Of course, it's important to eat and I'm by no means saying that food is an enemy but you've got to realize your limits so you can get the results (physically and emotionally) that you want. I hope this helped and if you need anyone to talk to or anything, feel free to PM/VM me.

Take care. x

I do exactly the same thing at night times! don't know why, i just cant help myself!
I find finding other things to do to keep my mind occupied tends to stop it. You probably feel like you're eating a lot more than you actually are!

Well eating disorder can be caused by a lot of things like holding back your emotions which you shouldn't do so express them as politely as possible or co crazy and angry when you're alone.
If not then go see a doctor cause you might have a problem in your body.
And starving yourself isn't the best idea cause then you won't have the energy to perform your tasks, chores, and activities.
And if you starve to much and you break then you'll eat double the amount you usually eat.
And maybe you see eating as an emotion or a way to escape your eomtions so just remember one thing: "food makes me fat, food is not emotion, food cannot help, food is energy" and I'm sure you'll get through it. Hope this helps.
