Slipping back - December 26th 2011, 12:30 AM

I started to recover from starving myself. Then once the holidays came I started gaining weight and plus I had to eat more cause family was around. This made me turn to purging. I know it's bad. I feel like I have to go purge after every meal now even though it doesn't always work cause I'm a beginner. Since today is Christmas Im restraining myself from trying to purging Dinner but I feel so guilty I coundnt even enjoy my Christmas dinner. And my mom got everyone candy and it looks really good but i cant bring myself to eat it. I just wish I could think normally and be able to enjoy my food normally like a normal person!!! . Thanks for reading.

Hey there,

I'm glad you've been doing so well in your recovery! It's normal to have some bad feelings around the holiday season. Have you talked to your parents about how food makes you feel? Or at least talked to somebody there to be able to help you get through these feelings? This can either be a friend, or an adult you trust. It's hard to go through this season alone. Have you ever talked to your parents about these feelings? They can be able to help, by not making you feel as forced to eat a lot where you feel more out of control.

If you feel like you want to purge after eating, distract yourself. Go talk to somebody else, go help your mom with the dishes, go watch tv, call a friend, or come to chat in S&A, we're all here to help you. There are some great ways to ground yourself in those out of control feelings on this thread as well. Just keep yourself distracted, and remember how dangerous purging can really be. You don't deserve to have to deal with those horrible consequences later.

Good luck! Feel free to message me if you need!
