the mirror is my enemy. - December 28th 2011, 05:39 PM

I feel that i weigh too much. I am 5'2" and XXX lbs. I am a dancer so I exercise everyday. I want to lose weight so badly but I am always hungry and I cant control my eating. I take in about XXX calories a day. When i eat alot, i avoid mirrors because im afraid to see how i look. After Christmas dinner, i threw up. i couldnt handle knowing all that food i ate. I hate throwing up but i feel like i have no other option. I used to not eat but then i got so depressed, i started to binge. Someone give me some options please?

Honey, don't feel that way. I know it's hard to see it, but I'm sure you're a beautiful person. [EDITED] is a perfectly fine weight, and if you're a dancer then some of the weight might actually be muscle instead of fat.

If you're completely set on loosing weight, then please don't do it by throwing up. It's not healthy, and there are plenty of other options. Maybe you could start going for a daily run? I have a friend who's on track and cross country, who eats like crazy and yet is one of the smallest people you'll ever know.

You have to remember that since you're active you will have a higher apitite, but there's nothing wrong with that. Not eating won't do anything either. If anything it will make your matabalism slow down, and make it harder to loose weight.

In the end your weight is fine, and you'll never be completely happy until you see just what a beautiful person you are, but if you're set on loosing weight then stay active, but don't be suprised by the rise in your apitite. That just means your matabalisms speeding up!

If you need someone to talk to, don't hesitate to message me.

Hey Gabrylle,

Welcome to TeenHelp! I'm sorry you've been going through this, but you have no reason to hate your body, or to be harming yourself with behaviors such as purging or starving yourself.

I would really recommend you see a doctor if you are wanting any more weight loss. Because you get enough exercise anyway from dance, doing any more exercise may be pushing your limits, and you need the amount of food you are eating because of the amount of calories you burn exercising. I would recommend you talk to a professional before starting any new exercise or diet regime. This could include a doctor, a nutritionist, a dietian, or even a trainer, anybody who can help you get some good advice about what exactly your body type needs.

Good luck! Message me if you ever need.

Since you're a dancer, keep in mind that part of your weight is most likely muscle. If you're at a healthy weight, then you have absolutely no reason to be worried. Like Traci said, see a doctor if you'd like to lose any more weight. If you push your limits with exercise, it could end up doing more harm than good. Overexerting yourself could make you sick or cause other health problems. Your doctor will help you find a safe way to lose weight.

Hey there; I'm also a dancer so I totally get what you're going through. Chances are, you're absolutely fine, you just are forced to look at yourself against other girls so often that it's driving you a little bit crazy. Just continue exercising and building yourself a healthy balanced diet so that you can feel better and if it becomes more serious I'd go get professional help.
