Not eating. -
February 2nd 2012, 04:44 PM
Hey guys.
Okay so I have been really depressed lately, I've felt low since just before new years. But for the past 2 weeks I've been eating little to nothing a day. Basically it's 1 chocolate for breakfast. No lunch, and then whatever my dad cooks for dinner. I just can't face food, the only reason i eat my dinner is because we eat together, and I have to. But I feel sick and horrible after. I don't get any pleasure from eating anymore. I don't feel worthy of food, i can't bring myself to eat. I've lost a few lbs over the past couple of weeks. Which I'm happy of, but my face looks a bit pale. ![]() Help?

Hey,
I know how you feel. In November I hadn't eaten much at all..I would only drink water or little things like toast or soup..but I'd bring it back up again later that day. The only advice I can give you is to eat something that you like, or something light. I'm sorry I can't give much advice, but I am always here if you wanna talk. x |

Well if your goal is to eat more then maybe start to eat more meals with people if possible. In my school there was a cafeteria where kids could go to eat breakfast. You could tell an adult about your problem and maybe they could make sure that you eat all your food. Also you could eat little things all day long. Then it wouldnt feel like you are eating a ton and it wont freak you out.
You say your eating little and depression are related? So maybe you could go to a counsler or someone and talk about what is making you feel that way and perhaps resolve the problems. Then maybe you wouldnt feel the need to starve yourself. I hope this was helpful and best of luck feeling better! |

I'm the same way. I just don't get hungry anymore.
My therapist told me that i should try to eat little meals throughout the day. That way you still get your nutrients, but you don't have to eat so much at one time. She also repeatedly told me that if i don't eat more, my body would go into starvation mode and actually hold onto more weight. Hope that helps. Hey there,
Is there a particular reason that you do not feel like eating? Do you think this is being caused by depression, grief, or any feelings like that? Or are you doing this for weight purposes? I'm just going to let you know, in the long term, starving will NOT help you, but only make things worse. It will just make your life difficult, because it becomes habit, and once it's habit, it's nearly impossible to stop. I would recommend speaking to your parents about how you are feeling, no matter what reason you are doing this. Maybe you've just gone through a less hungry phase. But if you are having emotional issues, let your parents know. As scary as it is, they do care, and would like to help you all that they can. Stay strong, hope this helped a bit.

My depressive episode came to a sudden halt, as they do. I have really low times.. like really really low. I actually need to go on a diet, but as I didn't feel hungry I didn't eat, but then I got concerned because I wasn't eating for like 3 weeks. Now I'm eating again, so thanks for your concerns. (:
Sorry I didn't reply, not been on the internet for a while. ![]() |
