Stomach Cramps, Fatigue, Shortness of Breath? - April 22nd 2012, 06:25 PM

So, I'm trying to rule out flu and food poisoning here.
Yesterday I ate some chicken out of a can. Already cooked; I only heated it up. About an hour later I started feeling fatigued, stomach started cramping, and I started feeling short of breath. This was maybe 6:00 pm yesterday. The cramps finally stopped at around midnight.
Then at around 9 I went to the bathroom and when I wiped I noticed it was a little brown. I'm not on my period; in fact my cycle just ended. (I know spotting in between is somewhat normal for some people.) Then I noticed little tiny clots, like you normally pass on your period, but they were light brown.
This morning my stomach is still a little tender, but not cramping. I'm still short of breath a tiny bit but I definitely feel better.
Might I add that last time I had the flu I had two periods in a month. Meaning I had a period for 7 days, then 7 days off, then had another period for 7 days, 7 days off, then started my regular period after that.
What is this?!

When is your next period supposed to be?
Sorry for the late reply and hope you are feeling better already.

It's definitely not food poisoning. Food poisoning doesn't start showing until anywhere from 8-12 hours after eating the bad food.

As for the spotting and clotting, that can happen when you are about to start your period. The clots are tissue from your vaginal wall shedding. That's what your period does. Cleans your vagina.

The light brown is leftover blood from your last period.

It sounds like you were/are getting ready to start your period. Keep in mind, you can start getting symptoms of an oncoming period up to 2 weeks before it starts.
