Dizziness while sleeping? - April 28th 2012, 08:52 PM

Last night I got dizzy while sleeping, it was weird. I had a dream where I was on a type of rollercoaster and got that feeling like when you drop off the top and it takes a second for your body to catch up. It kept happening though, I had several other dreams that had nothing to do with rollercoasters and it happened several more times and kept waking me up. Once I was awake it went away and it's never happend before. Does anyone else get this?

I do. I actually have at least two dizzy spells a night. About a year ago, it was so bad that I couldn't sit or stand up without falling over. They thought something was wrong with my brain but it ended up being Vertigo. It's permanent so I deal with it daily. So maybe it's something like that?

I get this when I'm just dropping off to sleep or am in a light sleep, its kind of like ' lucid dreaming' where you know you're dreaming but can't always wake up and then when you do you feel yourself spinning and then sometimes it feels as though you've fallen from a height as you feel yourself 'jump' . Hope that makes sense.

Since this only happened the once and while you are sleeping, I think it's alright. As the above user said, I've also had where I'm almost asleep or half-awake and get extremely dizzy and it causes me to be nauseous. If I'm awake enough, I just slowly open my eyes and roll over, and most the time it immediately goes away.
