Hay Fever - April 30th 2012, 05:23 PM

I'd imagine a lot of people here have it. I've never really had it in the past, although there were occasional signs of flare-ups. This year I think I have quite bad. I've gotten the anti-histamines but they don't really stop it completely.

Anything else I can do to get by better? I've got exams and revision to do so it's pissing me off.

"I don't care about politics"
Then politics doesn't care about you either. Truth. You've got to make your voice heard, if you want to be listened to. But that's too logical for some people, so let me go a step further. Not making your voice heard, leaves other people free to hijack it by speaking on your behalf, even if they don't actually give a shit about you. That's politics. So, make your voice heard. That's not a quote from anywhere. That's just me.

I get hayfever, fortunately I've managed to escape the worst of it the last few years.

If you put vaseline just at the base of your nose this helps to trap the pollen. I find that washing my hair often and showering regularly helps too to wash any pollen off your hair and body.

You can get allergy relief nose spray and eye drops, my DR prescribed me opticom eyedrops for my hay-fever it's certainly helped with my hay-fever and cat allergy, You could try the nose spray and ask your doctor for some pre-scribed anti-histamines as they may work better than over the counter ones.

Make sure you are taking the antihistamines daily and not just when symptoms start. And if you are having trouble with congestion, then a decongestant would definitely help. You can get some nasal decongestants with antihistamine in them from over the counter, but you shouldn't use them for more than 2-3 days in a row.
