cyst - July 30th 2012, 07:38 PM

I have a cyst and I had to have it drained twice because it got huge. I was told if I can live with the pain and it being there to live with it. My question is do they ever go away or will it always come back?? I am tired of having it drained because it actually hurts.

Well, you don't HAVE to have it drained. If it doesn't bother you too much, just leave it alone. However, does your doctor only drain it? Most doctors drain it then inject it with Cortisone. Usually, after 3 injections, the cyst disappears.

Cysts can go away on their own, but it can also be around for several years before it goes away. You should speak to your doctor about Cortisone injections or possible surgery if it is causing you a lot of pain or discomfort.

You can have it surgically removed, though most doctors will only do this if it is affecting your daily life.
