Hi there.

Definitely talk to your doctor about it in your appointment. I might be that he feels comfortable to change the medication you're on or to up the dosage of the current medication you are on.

I'm going to give you some tops on how to help yourself sleep. Here they are:
  • Set a routine. Go to bed the same time each night and get up the same time each morming. You can give ot take an hour when you're not a school or work.
  • Try to relax before bed; don't do any work, avoid getting into arguments and perhaps take a bath
  • Keep a sleeping diary. Record when you go to bed, how long it takes you to sleep, when you wake up (in the morning and through out the night) and record what you did in the day time as well as before bed to identy any patterns
  • Try and going down the herbal route - Lemon balm for example
  • Make sure your room is not too light
  • Ensure you don't spend a lot of time on the computer before bed (this acts as artifical light to our brains making our body thinking its day time therefore keeping us away
  • Have your bedroom painted in neutral colours - not bright blue or pink!
  • Do something like breathing exersizes or yoga before bed
  • Don't read a complicated book or watch a complicated film - this is going to make your brain more active
  • Keep a notepad with you through out the night - if you wake up thinking about something, write it down - make it extrernal so its not longer internal and try to get back to sleep.
  • If you can't sleep, don't spend hours in bed trying to sleep. This will most likely make you agitated making it harder. Get up fro twenty minutes or so and have a drink, sit with a pet, go downstairs and so on

There just a few idea's but might be worth trying. I hope seeing the doctor goes well.

Jessie

Yeah, if youve been taking a medication for a very long time, you tend to get used to it, so your doc might suggest a change in medication or dosage. : )
