Loosing weight but doing nothing?! - September 28th 2012, 01:50 PM

Hey so I know this may seem a bit weird but I'm quite concerned at my sudden loss of weight. So at the beging of July I weighed [EDIT]pounds and I was a size [EDIT] on top and a size [EDIT] on the bottom. I'm 5'6'' and a half ish. Its now September and I am now [EDIT]pounds, size [EDIT]on top and size [EDIT] on the bottom. I've also gone down a bra size. I'm so confused! It was the summer holidays too!! One thing did happen though... I did fall in love with this amazing boy who became my first boyfriend and when I found out he liked me I didnt eat for like 3 days due to the amount of butterflies. Plus I used to be a vegetarian but I started eating meat again this holiday. I ate pretty well this summer too. Atleast two big meals plus pudding a day were as before hand at school I just managed a small lunch and dinner but I snacked a lot. My snacking has gone down a lot too and I'm feeling fuller. But I havent been doing anything to loose weight at all! I mean yes I love it but my mum is worried because I'm still going down. Really confused!! Thankiesss~~

Firstly, welcome to TeenHelp. Secondly I am just letting you know due to the Code of Conduct, you are not allowed to post weight numbers, clothing sizes (including bra size, unless it is to say A cup, B cup, etc.) or caloric numbers.

Moving on. Most meats contain protein, which can cause you to become fuller more quickly than some other foods. So if you are feeling fuller, are not snacking as much, but are now eating meat again...it could be from that.

Also, if you now have a boyfriend, do you go out more often than you used to? Are you more active than you used to be? Unless it is an unhealthy weight, I wouldn't worry about it much. You're still young and your body is still developing. My weight fluctuated a lot when I hit 16. I would go from being unhealthily skinny, to normal, to unhealthily skinny in just a matter of a month.

My doctor blamed my constant diet changes. I would go 2-3 days with hardly eating, to gorging down food as soon as I saw it :P It was just how my body was reacting to all the hormone changes. I was then put on a hormone supplement, and it helped a lot.

So if the weight is really concerning, see a doctor to find out why and when it could become dangerous. But from what you have said, I think it would be expected to lose some weight since you aren't snacking as much, eating meat which causes you to eat less, and you may even be more active due to various things in your life.
