Has anyone? - November 13th 2012, 02:55 PM

Okay, so a few years ago I was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Since then I have had numerous problems with this, including chest pain, muscle twitches, headaches, and weakened muscles in knee and ankle.
These have all been blamed on the CFS but due to going to see my nurse at uni, she seems to think I may have been misdiagnosed. She thinks it might be Multiple Sclerosis.

I guess what im asking is has anyone ever being misdiagnosed like this?

I also have Neurofibromatosis type 1.

Any help would be appreciated.

I don't have either, but a friend of mine has CFS, and she has the weakened knee muscles and headaches like you mentioned. My cousin has MS and his symptoms include what you've stated, and he had to wait a long time to be properly diagnosed. However, MS is one of those diseases that is often mistaken for others, because of the wide variety of symptoms that it presents, so it is really hard to pinpoint exactly what's going on. I would definitely go see someone and get another opinion.

Sorry I couldn't be there, I was tied to a rocking chair.

MS has a test (lumbar puncture) for diagnosis, if your nurse feels you may have MS you should consult a specialist and if they also suspect you may have MS you should be tested.
One friend I had in Jr.High/High School had MS and he presented with symptoms similar to yours at the begining, but like Katie said, a lot of disorders have very similar symptoms to what you've described so you should consult a specialist before jumping to any conclusions.

Hey there, I have the same symptoms as you but I dismissed them.. And I do mean all.

Lumbar punctures are extremely unpleasant, I've had three, luckily I was knocked out for two, the first I had done, the anaethesia hadn't been applied properly or thhey had used not enough. They hurt like a bitch but, maybe do some research of your own or go back to your doctor and order a full blood panel and everything.
