Arrow Recent breakup, HELP!! - November 21st 2012, 07:50 PM

So my now ex-boyfriend recently broke up with me, and I'm quite upset over it. I've had a constant headache, chest pains which come and go and quite painful abdominal pains also. I'm just wondering could this be from stress and being upset from the break up, or something more serious?

Thanks for the advice!!

Hi there, I moved this over to General Health.
We aren't professionals, so we can't diagnose you with anything. It could be due to stress, but many other things could be causing this, such as lacking sleep. My best advice would be to make a quick visit to your doctor just in case.
As for the breakup, cutting off contact with help, and so will distractions. Keep yourself busy with activities you enjoy, such as spending time with friends and family and doing any hobbies you may have, such as art or sports.

And here you are living, despite it all.

If it started immediately after the break-up, I would say this is the cause. Depression can caused physical ailments. Try to find a way to de-stress and relax. Treat yourself to a bubble bath with candles and a book. Or a day full of movies and tv shows and some hot cocoa.

Whatever might help you to relax. If it gets worse, or more symptoms appear, or you relax and the symptoms stay, then it could be something else. However, the symptoms are pretty broad and I would suggest a doctor visit so he can look at your medical history and give you a diagnosis. Whereas all we can do here is speculate.

Sorry for the break-up! Those are really hard. Hope you feel better soon!
