I have a hernia :( - February 18th 2013, 02:52 AM

So, I've been having some pain in my lower abdominal area for quite some time now, at random times. I didn't think much of it before until last night when it got really bad and I noticed a lot of pain in my lower back and through out my right leg. I did some research and came to the conclusion that I have a hernia.

I researched exactly what a hernia is and how to treat it and I'm really freaking myself out. I feel like brain is tricking my body into thinking I'm in pain when I'm not. My whole body is aching, I keep having panic attacks where I'll literally shiver for 20 minutes straight uncontrollably. I feel all around-weak.

I can't get into the doctors for another week and I'm worried that it's getting serious.

I'm not asking for advice on the hernia really, it's just explaining the situation that I'm extremely stressed out and can't physically or mentally handle the amount of stress and anxiety that's coming in right now. I'm literally sick to my stomach thinking about it.

I've tried different methods to calm myself, but once I get the idea of 'hernia' back in my mind, I go into panic mode and can't help myself.

Hey Aiden,

First of all, you cannot with 100% certainty say that you have a hernia. This is what is known as self diagnosing and it can actually be really bad, as it is really psyching yourself out right now. Take a moment to breathe and remember that it may not be this at all.

Second, even if it is a hernia, freaking out will not help the situation. I'd recommend to call your doctor and make the appointment for next week along with asking some questions on the phone about your current symptoms to see if you need to come in more urgently or if there are ways that you can relieve the pain, calm down, or medicate in order to care for yourself in the time that you cannot come in.

Hope you figure out what's going on, good luck!

hi there,

If you are not able to make it to a hernia specialist / doctor, try to consult a physician so that the pain is under control and the anxiety too. Drinking water may be a good solution to control pain.

Nowadays, you can also sent a email query to a hernia clinic, such as Shouldice Hospital. The doctors will reply you with quick fixes or would just clarify your situation.

Hope you get well soon.

I recommend you to do some Yoga... to relieve from your stress . "Restorative" yoga is the best yoga to get rid of stress. Try it .

If you really have Hernia , then it is better you consult doctor asap as explained by Masterpiece

Thanks
Shan
