Factor 5 - January 12th 2009, 10:08 AM

I recently found out that I have a blood disorder called Factor 5, which means I can't take hormones, including brith control, and have to give myself shots every day if i'm ever going on a long flight or drive or anything that doesnt involve a lot of movement, or if i get pregnant.

Factor 5 pretty much means that my blood is too thick, so I can't sit still for too long, or I'll get a blood clot. If anyone knows anything about Factor 5 please let me know, because I don't really understand, and I don't really want to talk to my mom about it, we're not really close.

I took it upon myself to google a few sites for you as I myself am not very familiar with this:

I'm training to be a Doctor so this is something I do understand. I have never actually seen anyone with it, but I have read about it.

Reading about it on a website will only give you so much of an idea, however I recommend you read the websites Stacey linked above as they seem fairly detailed (had a quick look).

If you do not understand anything, please give me a PM and I can help explain why it is or what it is that you do not understand in another way.

If you are PMed concerning this disorder, please be sure you can site a book or website for your information. We like to have somewhere for our users to research the information they are given, rather than simply trusting our word. We're not medical professionals, so without a source we cannot back up any advice we may give medically.
