Hmm... I probably have brain damage - April 24th 2009, 11:52 AM

Hey,

So I've been chugging back 6-10 energy shots a day and I know it causes brain problems but for some reason when I drink it now my head feels like someone cut it open and stuck a popsicle stick in there. It's not freezing, but the pain is just like killer... And to be honest I don't have a sweet clue how to feel better!

I know I should stop. I will after schools done and I can focus more on my training and I don't have so much to balance, but the question is should I go get my head scanned? :|

I dont think its brain damage, your brain just needs a rest. If you cut out the energy drinks and get a good night sleep it should be better. If not then its prolly best to see a doctor.

Try to cut back on them for atleast a couple days, get lots of rest. Well I mean TRY, school might fuck that up.

You’re probably addicted to caffeine, that is what is in those energy shots. And what does withdrawal from caffeine feel like: extreme head aches. You got yourself addicted to caffeine, and that can be extremely unhealthy, not only can it cause brain aneurisms but also heart attacks. You can’t be on a stimulate all the time, it can kill you. Caffeine is in the same drug classification as cocaine and meth. I know in the US a lot of energy drinks have to have a warning on them because of how dangerous they are. So you are just going to have to stop drinking them if you want the head pain to go away. Honestly you are going to get terrible headaches for a few days, but after that you should be better.

What if I can't cut it out? Is there a hair-of-the-dog type thing for energy hangovers? :P

Never heard of "hair-of-the-dog" so rephrase your question.

If you cant cut it out, you probably will throw off the neurotransmitter production even more, could affect your academic performance, may affect your cardiovascular system, possibly liver and/or kidneys, but you are unlikely to get brain damage.

you won't have brain damage, you'll probably just be having caffeine withdrawl from all those energy drinks. just cut back on them, but if it's causing you pain, do it gradually, they're not great for your health.

Those energy drinks can also cause kidney stones in kids, believe it or not. I'd stop drinking so many. One on occasion is all right, but once it becomes habit, it's a real health hazard.

The only advice I can think of is to stop drinking the energy shots! If you can't go cold turkey, try drinking fewer each day over the course of a few weeks. Make sure to get a lot of sleep, and eat healthy. The caffeine withdrawal won't be fun, but its worth quitting due to adverse consequences (ex. kidney stones).

If you want to talk, feel free to message me anytime!
