What to eat after throwing up?? - September 19th 2013, 01:45 PM

I have to leave for work in just over an hour, but I got sick a little while ago - I'm assuming from the alcohol I had last night (combined with watching the opening scene of Pitch Perfect....) I have a five hour shift so I'll need to eat something before I go.... but what can I have that won't make me sick again??

Sorry for the late reply not sure if you'll have left for work already but I always like toast with butter after I've been sick, it's quite easy on the stomach so shouldn't make you feel too bad after.

I know other people talk about eating plain crackers too or drinking some ginger ale but I've never tried any myself so can't say how good these both are.

I hope this helps, feel better!

I'm also really late on replying but I agree with the crackers thing. My mom makes me eat it when I have an upset stomach, the saltine kind, not that other kind. You don't have to eat a whole package of them or anything if you're not up to it, but they're something that you can keep by your bedside and just munch on. She'll also make me drink ginger ale, but I've heard Gatorade is supposed to work the same way. When I'm sick I also try and drink soup, but not a heavy kind of soup. Generally I use chicken broth. Toast may be okay as well. Basically light things that are easier on the stomach.

I agree with what everyone else is saying. I would first try drinking water or sparkling/soda/tonic water and see if that would be kept down. Then I would try the ginger ale. If you can keep down any liquids, then move on and try the crackers. If you can keep the crackers down, then try bread. I know my mom whenever she gets sick and throws up, that after she has thrown up, that she would chew on any type of minty gum. I don't know if that has anything to do with anything, but it is worth a try.

Crackers, toast, maybe bananas if you like them. Drinking water will help to break up the acid that is making you feel sick in the first place (since alcohol causes stomach acidity).

When I'm sick, I eat/drink chicken soup or munch on digestive crackers.

Plain soda crackers and flat/warm ginger ale are your best bets. or something with REAL ginger...its a natural remedy for nausea
