Metamucil - November 3rd 2016, 01:54 AM

I have food intolerances and I sort of suck at keeping the stuff out 100%. Consequently it means I'm constipated a lot. Urgh. Like the legit worst. Dairy is the biggest offender so I avoid it as much as possibly. Like 90% of the time at least.

Any how so I have been taking Metamucil because I find that it helps. But I'm not sure if t counts as a laxative or not. It doesn't say so online but I heard uses of such things can be harmful long term.

Any one have any experience with this and know?

I'm quite certain that Metamucil is fine. I know at one point the doctor told my dad to use it.

If you are worried about it you might be able to call the doctor and ask them if long term use is ill-advised.

Someone else might be able to provide a better answer.

I've tried many things and everyone reacts differently to what they take.

I can say Metamucli isn't the yummy tasting-texture goodness. It depends on what texture and taste you like. You can get different flavours of it. I remember when I took it, I had to take it like I was doing shots so it goes down fast cause I really didn't like it.

However, Metamucli will work for others and not for others. Give it a try. One of the things that I didn't like about it, it made me bloated and gassy.

I take a probotic and the brand is called, Ulitmate Flora, they come in different methods and how much probotics. I've found this to help constipation and other related issues. There is other brands. Probotics help with your overall gut.

I hope this has been helpful. I hope you start to feel better soon.

I take probiotics too, but they're really expensive so I've been trying to stretch out what I have as long as possible. I need to buy more now that I have a pay cheque to look forward too. If I stock up and take it twice a day, I'm sure it'll make a big difference.

It's not a laxative but instead dietary fiber supplement. You should make sure you are drinking extra water with it. It technically is a laxative but it is because it helps you go by adding more bulk.
