Suddenly passing out - November 20th 2016, 11:02 AM

The weirdest thing just happened to me.

I stood up to make some food and grabbed a plate. Then I felt dissy and just fell to the ground suddenly. I got to my senses again after I fell.

I sometimes become a bit dissy when I stand up quickly, but I never fell down. It's as if I had an epil

Hi Sen,

There's a couple things that could cause that. Personally, I have low blood pressure. I have to check my blood pressure at least once a day to make sure it hasn't dropped too low, but it's never normal. So if you have low blood pressure you could have your blood pressure drop further when standing up from sitting/laying down too quickly.

Another reason could be the fact that you were about to get food. If your blood sugar dropped because you hadn't eaten then that could be why you got dizzy when you went to get food.

Then there's a whole bunch of medical conditions that could cause you to get dizzy when standing. I wouldn't worry about that too much as it's probably one of the two that I have mentioned. However, if it continues even after you've eaten, and if you don't have low blood pressure then I highly recommend talking to your doctor. If it becomes severe then I recommend going to the hospital.

I hope you feel better soon! Whenever I would stand I have to sit back down or stand still holding onto something with my eyes closed until I got my balance again.

Feel better soon!
Brittany

Work on changing positions slowly. Make sure you stay hydrated. You could talk to your family doctor if it happens repeatedly.

I'm going to the doctor this Saturday. Last time I got my blood pressure measured I got 108/64, so that's fine. I sometimes get these dizzy spells, but they have never been as frequent as in the last few days.

Hi Sen!

I'm glad you're going to see your doctor. Definitely keep us updated! I'm curious to know what it is . also your blood pressure is almost on the low side, so it could have something to do with standing too fast. Definitely try and stand a bit slower instead of just jumping up.

Let me know what your doctor says!
