Peeing Affects My Life Sometimes - February 6th 2017, 11:57 AM

I am going to make an appointment with my doctor and ask for a referral.

This issue has gone on, forever, I can't remember how long it's been going on. I kinda feel alone in it as its getting annoying and it's inconvenient.

When I pee during and after hurts. It really hurts. But the pain carries on up to 30 minutes later. That I have a feeling to pee again and some seeps out. It just feels horrible.

1) I've passed blood before. Saw a doctor tested my urine and found nothing.
2) while I was at work I felt I passed, or something got stuck and the urine couldn't like come out, then it did. That hurt so much I thought I was going to pass out.
3) ive tried increasing my water intake, doesn't do anything, drinking less water same, doesn't do anything. It simple happens out of nowhere.
4) ive gone to the hospital and to walk-in clinic over this they always tell me they can't find anything in my urine. End of story from them.
5) no bladder infection either.
6) when I had my surgery they looked in my bladder and found nothing. The issue started way before the surgery cause I complained about it and then they added it to my surgery.

I was talking to my cousin about this and she said it could be kidney stones. Right so when they do the ultrasound they find nothing. Then she said it could be something else, I can't remember the list, something to do with I don't have enough of certain supplements. Then she had me do this urine test for my PH balance. That test basically said my PH levels were extremely low. She told me to make an appointment with my doctor and ask to be referred to some specialist ive never heard of nor even knew about, she didn't either.

Honestly, can I wait for this referral it's honestly affecting my life. Sitting on a bus now with this pain hurts. At times my body is shivering and having that weird sensation throughout my body where the hairs stand.

I guess my point of the post is, I feel alone and ive talked to friends about this and they don't experience this, so I feel alone.

Sorry to hear that peeing is causing you issues and has done for a while. Definitely a good idea to get it checked out.

Have you tried drinking some cranberry juice? Pain after peeing and needing to go again not longer after can be a sign of cystitis and drinking cranberry juice is said to help a bit.

I've not experienced the bleeding, and I can't imagine how frustrating it is to have tests done and nothing show up in the results, but I do know how painful it can be when something is affecting your bladder. Really hope that it clears up soon or that you get somewhere with the specialist!

Cranberry juice is actually a hotly debated topic about whether it works or if it is placebo effect. Our discharge paperwork says it "may help." It was interesting to actually briefly research it for one of my topics.

It honestly sounds like stones. I'm not sure if your cousin is a medical professional. Even if she is, be careful taking advice of hers over your own medical professionals. Also, what is "extremely low?" That is vague.

Blood in urine sometimes. Feeling like something is obstructing. Usually there is microscopic urine when people are passing stones. You could ask to be referred to a urologist for further testing. They probably would not want to do a CT scan on you since you're young so the ultrasound would be useful. However, it wouldn't show anything if you had already passed the stone.

Also, have you been tested for STIs?

Hi Chantal,

While I was reading your post, I was thinking that it might be kidney stones. It could also be stones in the urinary tract.

You mentioned it's not a bladder infection so maybe it could be a UTI. It might also be pain in the urethra from sexual activity.

As mentioned above you should get tested for STDs as some of them can also cause painful urination.

Feel Better!

Thank you for all the replies!

I did see an NP about my symptoms and I mentioned it's been going on before my surgery (which the surgeon looked in my bladder and found nothing) but the issue has persisted. She won't refer me to a specialist until I have the ultrasound because they won't accept referrals without an ultrasound. The NP said she thinks it's not kidney stones but sent a request for me to get an ultrasound done.

I have been screened for STIs before my surgery, which as all came back negative, I've had others testing done since then which of course has come back negative. The NP is convinced I have an STI when this problem has been going on way longer and no STIs has shown up. I doubt there will be any either but if one does, it doesn't explain all the other times I've had issues of peeing and continue to.

I am not sure what will show up. The ultrasound has been booked, I now need to wait for the appointment, then wait to hear back on the results.

The NP did recommend cranberry pills. I am iffy on if they would work as she also mentioned that it can help for some but not for everyone. I am just not going to get them until I know what is going on.

Since this has been going on for a long time, if they find nothing this will be, "chronic painful urination" and the NP said it could be just inflammation. I am kinda a little annoyed by this as that is what they said about my pelvic pain and it turned out to be something.

Now I just need to wait and see.
