Meseneric Adenitis - August 15th 2017, 02:37 AM

So my family doctor suggest I have Mesenteric Adenitis, which is swollen lymph nodes in the stomach. Apparently she wants me to see a gastroenterologist to get some testing done to see if anything is causing it. What if it's cancer? I'm really concerned about this. I mean, I have had absolutely no viruses that I can think of to cause them to swell, but she said that viruses are the main cause. I have her stumped so now it's all a matter of getting this checked out. I see my gastroenterologist Wednesday morning. She said that I've had it at least six months because I had it even before I had my gallbladder removed last Thanksgiving, they thought that the gallbladder was the cause but I guess it turns out it wasn't. Keep me in your thoughts please?

I have to get a bacterial overgrowth test, that's where I drink some kind of sugar milk stuff and they check my breathe every twenty minutes for 3 hours to see if it's digesting properly. This will be done on Monday. If everything comes back clear I'm alright, if not then they're going to do some scopes on me.

UPDATE: They decided after reviewing my notes with the nurse practitioner, to do an endoscopy.

Sorry to hear that you have to go and have an endoscopy now as well. But hopefully this will lead to the nurses finding out the cause and that you'll get treatment too!

I'm sorry your stomach is giving you a difficult time and hopefully the endoscopy will be able to give the doctors a clear diagnosis. I know exactly what it's like to have stomach problems and the doctors are unable to tell you exactly what is wrong with it. I hope it gets resolved and you are able to get the proper treatment for it.

Well, the bacterial overgrowth breath test came back negative. I guess we'll see what happens after the endoscopy tomorrow.

I have gastritis but that doesn't explain the lymph nodes. I'm going to an appointment in two weeks to speak to the doctor again.

Hey,

Try not to panic until you figure it all out. I know this is easier said than done but a few years back, maybe in 2011, my brother was having some issues and he went to the doctor and he was told he had swollen lymph nodes. They told him they had to run tests to rule out certain things like cancer. Anyway, we were all quite frightened and we all kind of panicked. My brother ended up getting the tests and it wasn't cancer. I don't remember what it was exactly but I do know that it wasn't anything that was life threatening.

I know hearing things like this is scary but stressing about it too much might end up leading to you getting sick. I know, personally, that stress gives me headaches and occasionally makes me nauseous.

I hope that your doctors will be able to figure out what it is after they run the tests.

Best of luck!
