anyone felt like this before? - January 14th 2009, 05:32 PM

Last night, I felt horrible. I've had the flu before and this was worse than the flu I felt so so sick. My symptoms started out as dizzy, lightheaded, severe nausea, headache earlier that day and fatigue. I went to sleep pretty early since I couldn't deal with it.

I had a flu shot two months ago so that wasn't likely. I had eaten so it wasn't blood sugar. I talked to some people in S&A who said it might have been withdrawal. I abused over the counter sedatives for a year and tried to back off of them. I'm taking a small amount now (I know...shouldn't be taking any..). I don't think that was it.

I woke up this morning feeling 100% better and this was weird. Last night I felt like hell. The only symptoms I still have are fatigue and sorta over heated. Should I be worried? Could I be catching something? This is really strange to me.

You could be catching something, but it also might have been a strange 24 hour virus. If you still don't feel well in a few days, I'd go see a doctor.

Twenty four hour virus. Never thought of that. It's really weird.
Thanks Brittney! If it gets worse I'll have it checked.

Id go to the docs to check it out....it could be, as said above, a 24 hour virus, or it could be the start of something.

If you're feeling better and not running a fever, I don't really see why you'd need to see your doctor unless you continue to have problems or have questions. Just keep an eye on your sleep, hydration, and temperature. Very likely it could have been a 24 hour virus.

BTW, though I doubt it was flu (it usually lasts 3-7 days), the flu shot doesn't always prevent you from getting the flu. It contains only a few strains they predicted would be the flu going around the next year. There are endless strains of flu virus, and they can't protect you from all of them.

Yeah I didn't think the flu shot was 100% affective.
I'm feeling better as far as feeling sick but I'm always so tired. This happened last year and I was tested for anemia...three times all negative.
It might be my thyroid acting up again. dunno...

Virus' are sneaky buggers and as a result you can never be fully protected.

Also its to do with how virus' work compared to say bacteria.

Antibiotics, stop the cell wall from functioning correctly and thus eventually destroy the bacteria. However due to natural selection, bacteria continue to multiply and somewill be immune to the anti biotics given. That is why it is essential you always take the full course of anti biotics.

Virus' use cells as hosts, thus antibiotics are not effective on them. There is very little a Doctor can do with the Influenza virus, so if it is that. I really would not bother a Doctor, their time is wasted regularly as it is.

Unless of course it becomes very very severe.

If it came back, you need to make an appointment with your doctor. It could be something simple, like dehydration, or something more. Either way it should be addressed.

I would contact your doctor....they may want to see if it simply is a bug that's coming and going or if it's something else they can help you with. They may be able to help with your symptoms. Laura's do sound similar to what you're describing though.

Thanks everyone.
Yeah, Laura's symptoms do sound like mine.
It went away but I have a feeling it might come back so I'll go to the clinic and get it checked out. I've been so stressed out I wouldn't be surprised if I was dehydrated or something.
