Ablation - March 24th 2018, 02:30 AM

I'm thinking about asking for an ablation of my uterus. My cramps are terrible, I've tried every form of birth control out there and none of it has worked. I haven't tried the implant yet, but I don't know if it's even worth it if the pills, the injection, and the IUD didn't work. I don't bleed but I cramp terribly. I plan on talking to my doctor about it but what do you think? What would you do if you were me? I know I cannot get pregnant after having it done, but to be honest I never really wanted to have children, I am more interested in adopting than anything.

I can do it
I'll get through it
But I知 only human
And I bleed when I fall down
I知 only human
And I crash and I break down
Your words in my head, knives in my heart
You build me up and then I fall apart
'Cause I知 only human, yeah

In the circumstances, I would give an implant a try because one of my aunt's friends greatly benefitted by it. I'm sure your doctor would be only too pleased to help you and, will give you excellent advice. Your not wanting children is completely normal; some people just don't want kids and for a whole variety of reasons. But again, discuss this with your doctor.

Discussing both options with your doctor might be a good idea. I think that figuring out which option would be best for you you the key to figuring out what to do. Since I don't know a ton about ablation I don't want to say much but your doctor might be able to help you determine if it is the right course of action.

Best regards and sorry I could provide anything more than this.

She said I'd be a good candidate for the ablation but she said they would not do it without a tubal ligation, which I wouldn't care. We're trying one more thing, stronger pills, and if that doesn't work she said she'll consider doing the surgery.

I am glad that your doctor was open to discussing it with you! I know some doctors can be really closed off about these things. I think that trying the stronger pills is a good idea. It will probably make you an even stronger candidate for the procedure too because it will show that absolutely nothing seems to work.

Please keep us updated!

They're going to take the steps towards ablation because they're almost positive that the doctor will give it the go ahead, so I'm getting an ultrasound and just had cultures taken.

I am glad they are going to be considering you for ablation! I am wondering if you'd like me to close this thread for now? If you have any more updates I can re-open it.

If you'd like to wait until you know more that would be okay. I would definitely like to be kept updated but I am guessing it will be a while before they can get it all figured out and scheduled.

Re: Ablation - April 14th 2018, 03:02 AM

So I am now getting a D&C as well as some lab work and a hysteroscopy. They're going to call next week with a day and time to go to the surgery center.

Has anyone here had this done before? What was your recovery time? How painful is it really? I'll be under anesthesia the whole time.

Re: Ablation - April 14th 2018, 06:53 PM

I had something like this done a few years back as a precautionary thing to determine if bleeding I was having was abnormal. They were able to do my procedure in the office and it was referred to as Curettage.

My procedure was simple. I am not 100% what they did but I was awake for the whole thing. There way some pressure while my doctor did it and that was it. I was told that I might have spotting or cramping but I don't believe I did.

Since you will be doing a hysteroscopy there might be some differences as mine was more precautionary since I was worried about something and the doctor wanted to rule things out.

Best regards.

This is precautionary too. I asked him if he was doing it in the office and he said he didn't like doing them in the office, he'd rather have the woman out of it because he said it causes too much pain and discomfort. Kudos to you though for being awake! I youtubed a video of one being done and I probably shouldn't have But I can see why I need to be asleep. Maybe this is because of the scope whereas he just doing the D&C without the scope though.

I don't know
