Dizzy from smoking cigarettes? -
May 30th 2009, 12:03 AM
I've been smoking for over two years now, and just recently have started getting dizzy after I smoke. It's been like 2 or 3 weeks since this started. I don't know why it's happening & I can't be allergic, so I'm really confused as to why my cigarettes are making me light headed and sick feeling. Help, anyone?

Have you changed the brand of cigarrettes you smoke? Maybe it could be stronger cigarettes causing a bit more of an effect.. almost like a nicotine rush ?

What a shame, what a shame
To judge a life that you can't change

So won't you give this man his wings?
What a shame to have to beg you to
See we're not all the same, what a shame

Nope. I've been smoking the same cigarettes for over a year, haven't changed the way I smoke them either. It's strange. It's not a good dizzy either, it's a nauseaous dizzy. Like I can't even stand. But I don't think it's a rush. It really bothers me though.

Yeah I understand that, Maybe you should go and see a doctor? I mean obviously they will try to convince you to quit smoking but it may be a real hazard to you.
Do you drink a lot of water and eat a lot? because also it could be lack of energy causing you to feel like this everytime you smoke.

It could just be head rush but it could be something more serious. Maybe try cutting down on the amount of cigerettes you smoke and see how that goes. Could just be your boy telling you to quit smoking. If the dizziness doesn't cease I would advice visiting your GP.

I drink plenty of water, mainly kool aid... can't really afford soda or anything. I do feel like I have a lack of energy. It's something I've never experienced.

It's pretty intense. I don't smoke all that much either. Probably like 5 cigarettes a day, it just depends. I was actually telling my boyfriend that my body was rejecting the cigarettes. He didn't listen to me though. They taste different too, really strong and the smell is a bit repulsive.

Do you have a cold or anything? I tend to find that if I smoke with a blocked nose I'll get really dizzy. Sounds strange I know But I think it might have something to do with not getting enough oxygen?

That is kind of weird, but I don't have a cold. Argh, this is so very confusing. I wish I knew what was wrong. It's like everytime after I smoke I get so dizzy that I just want to lay down and fall asleep. It makes me sick to my stomach.

hate to state the obvious but if it makes you feel dizzy and sick then why don't you just quit? or at least attempt to quit? surely it's not worth carrying on smoking if it's making you feel like that?

Yeah, that's probably what I'm going to have to do. I don't necessarily like smoking, it just relieves my stress... but if it's going to make me feel this crappy then I might as well.

I used to smoke semi-regularly, and finally it just started making me sick, I don't even know why. I still smoke every now and then, anyway, but it's not much better.

Your lungs/airways could be congesting as you inhale, cutting down on your air intake and thinning your blood more - causing what we call a headspin. Happens to me in the mornings; my fingers go numb and my toes go cold. :|

well you could try and find some other way to relieve your stress. exercise is a good one, i used to do kickboxing before i got ill, that's loads of fun. or go for a cycle ride or a run.

I really enjoy tennis, so I could do that more often. And it might be easier to quit if I steer clear of my boyfriend. He smokes like a chimney! I'm really wanting to quit. I won't quit cold turkey just yet, I'm going to cut back on the amount I smoke per day for sure.

hey - i've been running into you all over these posts today and i feel like we are or were living through the same things! except- the cigarettes weren't making me light headed- they were really started to burn my throat. i smoked 5 cigs a day for about two years, and it is not that much! it is not good- but it is not a lot. it is still hard when you quit, because i quit on and off again for a while, but come June 11th it will be 5 months since i touched a cigarette and i did it cold turkey. try and quit! you really will feel better- i know i did
