Does anyone know something over the counter I can take for being irregular... sometimes I will go 4-5 days without going to the bathroom at all...

You need to get some more fibre in your diet, that would be the best thing for you to do in the long term as prevention and to keep you healthy. If you go to your local drug store you could ask the pharmacist to suggest something that will work for you (laxatives).

One of the best things to try first is metamucil or a similar fibre supplement, and you can ask the pharmacist to recommend the best amount to help the problem you are having. Otherwise you may have to try laxatives. I would also suggest--for the long run, to try and inclue more fibre rich products in your diet; whole grain breads and cereals, bran muffins or cereals, beans etc. You can always contact your doctors as well in order to clarify the proper amount of fibre you should be consuming each day.

I wouldn't do laxatives right off the bat. Like Stacey said, I would contact your pharmacist and ask for some advice. I have used Miralax previously in the past and it can help you without being harsh, but before anything like that, I would try adding more fiber, even if it's through supplements. Keep in mind this might take a week or so to notice a difference.
