How do you stay healthy and in shape? - January 18th 2009, 09:19 PM

I think this would go here.

Well I've always hated my weight. I have tried working out but I only did that for about two weeks, but I quit because it was so boring and so tireing and I would sleep like right after I was done and I would hurt in the morning.
Ok well, so what do you do to stay healthy thats fun and not all that tireing?

I bike, swim, rollerblade, play around with friends (hide n go seek, tag, etc.), and take my dog to the park. Fun activities could include: lazer tag, rock wall climbing, hiking, paintball/airsoft wars, horse back riding, and others.

Before starting any major lifestyle changes it's always best to consult your doctor for information on a healthy weight, diet and activity level for your age group.
I find walking is a lot better than a set exercise routine, or jump rope, hoola hooping, join a sport. It's all about personal preference and you're going to have to experiement before you find something that you'll enjoy doing and be able to keep up.
Make sure you're eating healthy as well, and don't forget to drink plenty of fluids while exercising to prevent dehydration.

You know the phrase "NO PAIN NO GAIN"
Your muscles are being toned when you feel that pain in the morning.

Lately I run for 30 minutes as a workout, because I gotta get in shape for track season.
I personally like feeling tired, cause sometimes I don't feel tired by night time and then I can't sleep

I can never stay healthy because I'm on meds that make me gain weight so it's a constant battle to fight with them. Walking to school kind of works if it's a long way, maybe join a club or a sport you're interested in? Eating healthy kind of helps along with the exercise.

Sorry I'm not much help.

I have a friend, with an amazing body. It's all down to her dance classes. When she doesn't go in summer, she gains some weight.

So maybe find a nice dance class, or even an aerobics class, they're always fun.
You have to be willing to be a little tired and feel pain as that means your going down the right path. Good luck.

Something I did for a while which was more fun than anything was trampolining. It was so much fun and it's not something you really see as strenuous exercise. I thought it was pretty cool.

I make sure I walk to the shops at least once a day. I also go to the gym.

Re: How do you stay healthy and in shape? - January 19th 2009, 12:52 PM

I'm probably not the BEST person to ask, as i am somewhat lazy and very thin and gangly already - naturally. I walk to and from school everyday though. I think if you want to stay fit, walk more! Don't take a bus up a hill or just for a few stops, think about the benefits of walking instead.

Also, limit the amount of high sugar/fatty foods in your diet - it is okay in moderation of course, as you need food from each food group in order to stay healthy but too much of one thing or too little is never good, so remember always keep a BALANCED diet.

It doesn't have to be a rigourous exercise regime that keeps you in shape, it can be the small things like i mentioned; that make all the difference.
If you find that small changes don't work, keep adding and building on new ones. Like some people have already suggested; trampolining, dance classes etc! Things are fun when they are rewarding - remember that!

Take care :]

so i eat SO MUCH... like y'know... I'm the girl going back for fourths at dinner.
But my answer to that is I play a lot of sport, swimming/hockey/netball... whatever.
I also do fun things like volleyball, my beach team are awesome
seriously, just find something active that you enjoy and you stay healthy AND have fun. It's awesome

Being active in any school sport will certaintly help you keep in shape. You're at an age to do that too, so it shouldn't be too hard to join anything. Or do any of the below activities.

Its not just the exercise though. You just need to try to eat healthier. Drink more water, less soda (if you can, no soda), no junk food...A healthy diet will help just as much an exercising would.

And you have to keep trying for more than two weeks...And your muscles hurt because your body isn't used to the activity. You have to keep going, and in time it will start to feel good, and be enjoyable.

My favorite options for exercising are swimming and pilates. I love pilates because it's yoga style exercises that aren't horribly stressful or painful and they work gradually. It's also a great way to unwind.

Then swimming I just love, but that's difficult to do in the winter.

The next time you feel down, just remember that Bruce Banner tried to kill himself
and Tony Stark has anxiety attacks, and they've both saved the world. You will be okay.

I do badmintion, which has year round training. I also do yoga three days a week which helps my flexibility and my mental health. I love to swim. I also get a lot of exercise at the park because keeping up with my little brother can be a workout!
I don't eat a lot of meat, just because I don't like it and try to eat as much fruits and veggies as I can. I love cranberries and oranges!

I'm definitely not the best person to ask because I'm just like, one of those ridiculously skinny girls who eats three billion calories a day and never gains any weight...

But, I took fencing classes for a while, which is a great workout on your body... especially your thighs. Other than that, I would recommend eating a lot of fruits and vegetables and such.

when you love and laugh abundantly you live a beautiful life.
