Night Terrors. - January 24th 2009, 07:30 PM

I'm not sure whether this would go under mental health or in here, but I get really bad night terrors sometimes. It's affecting my life, I'm too tired to function or get to school in the morning. They also make me paranoid afterwards, one I had recently affected me so that I have had a hard time sleeping for a week after it. I need to stop this, is there a way to not dream so much? I get no rest because it's like I'm awake when I'm asleep. If anyone has any tips, I'm glad to hear them.

I think you should check this out with a doctor. Also, you should try doing something relaxing before sleep, like listening to soft music, no caffiene after dinner, go to bed early. Just try different things. You could also look this up on Google to try to find more tips. I hope they end soon.

I have night terrors, they are caused simply by stress. You need to find away to lessen the stress in your life, it is the only way to get rid of night terrors. Talking to your doctor might help you find ways to relax before going to bed.

A few people posted before the reset about this topic, and I think they all had night terrors as a result of stress; as Lizzie said, and were offered several options by their doctors, so it would probably benefit you to see your doctor about this.

I get night terrors too. I freak out my roommate with them sometimes, haha.

But yeah what people said above will certaintly help with night terrors. Try to be relaxed before you go to sleep. Be calm, listen to music and try to clear your mind. I find that the less stressed I am, the less likely I'll have one.

I also learned, through experience, that drinking alcohol will greatly intensify night terrors...I can't talk for drugs, since I don't use them. But maybe cutting down on that stuff will help?
