worms - January 25th 2009, 10:11 AM

What do you all know about pinworms? A friend of mine asked me about it. She said she noticed she had them when she was about 12, but she was too embarrassed to tell anyone. She is now 21. Will the worms go away themselves or will she still need to see a doctor? What are some health problems the worms can cause?

A lot of people have them and never even realize it, they're really common. She can go to the doctor and get medication to get rid of them, else they probably won't just leave on their own...if she's had them for a long time now then chances are they're there to stay unless something kills them off. It's really easy to treat, just a week of medication and cleaning all your sheets. Pinworms usually don't cause any big problems, sometimes some discomfort and itching, and they can be contagious so if she is sharing a bed and/or toilet with anyone, they are at risk for getting them as well. Not a big deal really, but who wants any kind of worms inside of them? I'd just go to the doctor and have them cleared out with meds.

Aš tave myliu, Nanny. I'm carrying your love with me.

Very bad itching. It's just really annoying. Just tell your doctor what's going on and they'll probably give you something for it. They'll probably say to wash your sheets and clothes as well. It's not hard to get rid of them.
