*not sure where to put this post*

i want to get fit and thin
i want to do excersie

but i cant
my god like, i hate people who are thin and do nothing
or dont want to do anything
i WANT to excersise and feel good about myself
i love the feeling after
you feel so good about yourself after excersising.

i'd love to be able to go out for runs

its not that i cant run, im determined, its the fact im so paranoid, people would see me and laugh and stare and laugh
i'd just look stupid

im too embarrassed

and i wish i wasnt

if i could just get over this
i'd be fit as a fiddle
in like no time at all.

its like a mental blockk.

another thing holding me back is my asthma
its really bad
i'm this far from being put on one of the specialist lists

i take my inhaler a million times a day
none of the steriod inhalers work for me
i'm scared i'll get the shakes and things when i'm old because of all teh ventolin i take.

i'd give anything to be fit and healthy
if i got fit my asthma wouldnt be as bad
and i could work out more
and be how i want to

First of all, anyone who laughs at you is rediculous. You should be proud of doing exercize and getting fit. I would never laugh at anyone who is trying their best to do what's best for them, infact, I would be very impressed with them, and maybe a little jealous of their determination.

And for exercize, because of your asthma. you canstart walking (it really does make you feel fit and burns calories), and you could also maybe try Yoga, or pilates, or something similar to that(makes you toned)...

anyways, good luck

First of all good on you for wanting to get fitter! It sounds like you are really serious about it. As far as the paranoia goes, its justifiable. I remember the first time I went into a gym before I weight trained and I was intimidated and overwhelmed. A good way to get around it is to coach yourself to fake your confidence at first. As you already know, it feels great after you do something positive, so after two or three times of running or going to the gym it will get much easier because you will feel more comfortable. I suppose one way of looking at it is imagine how dramatic your transformation will be if you do learn to overcome the paranoia and get fit! You will feel indestructable! Lol! Best wishes!

I'm with stephanie on the walking, yoga, and pilates. I don't to anything extreme like (shudder) sports or running, and just casual moving around a lot and good food keeps me healthy. Asthma has been a problem for me, and I try to fix it by just having a healthy lifestyle, not neccessarily short bouts of extreme-ness.

I also hate running because of people staring at me.. lol I get really red and wheezy and I keep pushing myself until I collapse.. not good! I generally either run at the treadmill, or try to walk instead. Avoid situations where you care uncomfortable or paranoid.. it's not healthy.

Well done you for having the perserverence to keep healty. I would just give a second thought about what you consider to be excersize, and maybe opt for more (larger quantities of and time spent doing) soft-core excersize.

Howzabout that?

It's awesome that you are so determined to get fit!...especially since it sounds like you want to go about it the right way...through good ol' traditional exercise! I agree with the other people who say to start slowly. You don't want to get hurt right away, so take it easy and listen to your body...soreness is good, excessive soreness means take a break!

As for being nervous about people staring, in all honesty, when I see someone running, regardless of their weight or level of fitness, I am impressed. I think it is so awesome when someone takes things into their own hands and makes an effort! Just be brave, I think a lot more people would be impressed then they would be making fun of you.

Also along with others said, start with walking, and then maybe work up to joggin short distances while still walking the majority of the way....just slowly work up to it and you will be jogging in no time! On top of pilates and walking, I would also recommend riding a bike. It is much less demanding on your knees and I have always found it very encouraging since you can go such greater distances on a bike then if you were walking or running.

Good luck hun!
