Loosing weight? - January 2nd 2010, 07:25 PM

I've been trying to loose weight for some time now, many different ways. I've done it unhealthily, and healthily.

I can't get to a gym currently, and can't really go running (at the moment, anyway), so I'd rather avoid those. I can't exactly do a strict certain food diet either, because I don't want to draw direct attention to do the fact that I'm trying to loose weight.

Not much weight - I just want to because slimmer, fitter and healthier
The quicker the better, but I know these things take time.

I'm just asking for any tips that you know of, helping weight loss?

Thanks for reading. ♥

Hey there. Dieting and eating healthy can be difficult, and you want to make sure you do it healthily. I recommend walking for thirty to sixty minutes a day. What I do is allow myself to have one really unhealthy meal a week. The rest of the week, I make good choices. Also, cutting out simple things, such as soda, coffee, and unhealthy snack can bring your weight down a lot! Good luck!

I've found that just drinking water when you're hungry between meals can help a lot. It's good for you, and it can control small amounts of hunger to prevent you from snacking too much.
Also, leafy things like lettuce, it doesn't take very much lettuce to take up a good amount of space in your stomach, so I find that salads between meals can help a lot.
Also doing small things, like walking instead of driving or taking the bus. If you do take the bus then why not get off a stop early and walk that extra block or two? Take the stairs instead of the elevator or escalator.
Go to the farthest washroom in the house when you need to go, it might just be a few extra steps, or a few extra stairs, but it adds up.

Exactly right! The one common thing most of these successful weight loss stories you hear, is the larger amount of water drank than usual. Some suggest 12 cups a day, rather than the recommended 8 cups.
As for not having time for the gym, if you have, or can get hold of a set of dumbbells, there are hundreds of exercises you can do.
30 mins of muscular exercise each day will help you tone up and lose a little bit of weight fairly easily. If you're interested in exercises PM me and I will send you a few I tried in a little routine, that worked for me and was designed by a trainee personal trainer.

Also, 6 small meals instead of 3 big meals. Small meals and lots of water. Lots of healthy green things and probably don't do anything extreme without contacting a dietician or a health expert.

hi....im krystal
losing wieght is always tough for most people. exercise is all always great but you can not lose weight ( and keep it off) by exercise alone. so since you do not have time for exercise right now start by looking at your diet. if its not healthy then try to make a few changes at a time to improve it (no one can change their whole diet at once and have the great results they want) so some advice would be:
1: if you eat out at least 3x's a week try to get a salad, or some kind of chicken (chicken burger or chicken wrap) instead of burgers and fries
2: if you eat meals at home try to eat a better portion size ( using a smaller plate works great, if you fill a saucer up instead of a huge plate you trick your self into thinking your eating a huge amount because your plate is fuller)
3: try to get more fruits and veggies, and lean meats such as chicken or fish
4: drink water through out the day so you wont fill as hungery and drink a 32 oz glass of water before every meal to help you from over eating
5: when you feel the need to snack grab you a bag of popcorn...it fills you up and its a healthy snack food
i hope this helps if you need anything else feel free to email me........krystal

Hey really random tips i've picked up on, lost nearly [Edited by Asylum] within 6months, some was due to illness but other things helped.
Tips-
1. 20 seconds before the end of a shower, turn the temperature to cold - then ur body uses energy (calories) to heat itself up again
2. Dont eat 3 big main meals! Eat 6 smaller ones
3. Try and eat before 7pm - so before going to bed you get to walk off some calories
4. Walk everywhere if possible, or if you use the bus for transport get off a stop earlier :-)
5. Try to avoid carbhydrates and meat together, understandably it does happen, roast dinners etc, but dont make the portions the same, try having either less meat or potatoes/pasta
6. Drink lots of water, flushes through toxins etc through your body
7. If your hungry, have something to drink as it's usually thirst which alot of people mistakenly dont realise, wait 20mins after your drink and if your still hungry then allow yourself some food
8. If you LOVE chocolate or anything with alot of fat in it, dont take it out of your life all together, because you'll crave it soooo much and just eat to much of it in the end. treat yourself once a week to a bar of chocolate or whatever your favourite food is
9 If you smoke or drink excessively - STOP!!!
10. Exercise - use search engines to discover easy exercises such as squats that can be done whilst watching tv etc
Good luck :-)
xx
