Could This Be Some Sort Of Weird Scar? - January 5th 2010, 08:07 AM

Today, I have finally decided to ask the question that has been nagging me for a while.

When I was a little kid - I want to say probably when I was 3 or 4 - I used to have a habit of picking up things in my mom's room, one of which happened to be a needle. Of course I promptly stabbed myself in the back of my hand (accidentally), what little kid wouldn't?

Well, I'm 18 now, and I still have the stab mark.

It's 100% healed, it doesn't hurt, and I don't notice it unless I happen to be examining my hands. It's just a little dot of color on my skin.

Any reason why I still have it? Is it some sort of scar? I'm not concerned about it...I don't think it's dangerous...but I would kind of like to know why I have it.

i still have scars on my hands from cannula's i had put in years ago - it's not that unusual really. some people just scar more than others and when you get a wound of any sort theres obviously potential for you to have a scar that remains there almost permanently. it'll probably fade more over time, but really all you can is ignore it - it doesn't sound like it's causing you any trouble though, so it's fine! :]

It's just funny because I don't scar easy, it's the only one I have...I don't even have a scar where I had stitches on my forehead. Go figure. Thanks

This is something I've been wondering about too.

My sister's bracelet got caught on my skin two years ago, but the scar hasn't faded. It's of a much paler shade than my skin (almost white) and a little shiny. Other scars in the past have faded though, so I'm not sure how it works.

I suppose it depends on the location of the wound? Some parts of the body are more prone to scarring than others.
