Mono? -

So.. Im 15 years old and I just achieved my first kiss with another girl on the 16th of January. The next day, I've been having a runny, stuffy nose, slightly a sore/itchy throat, and its been two days and I still have it. Im concerned I might have gotten mono, but she told me she doesnt have it.
Is it possible to still get mono even if the other person doesnt claim to have it? And is this just a sign of a normal cold or allergies? Usually when I have allergies, I have a runny nose and sneezing a lot, which I have been. Feel free to move topic. I will never let you fall. But if you do, ill just pick you right back up. Hey Bella--
It sounds to me like just allergies or a cold. If she doesn't have mono, you couldn't have gotten it from her. You CAN get mono from really poor sleeping/eating habits, but since you generally do get allergies, it's probably just that--and the timing made you paranoid!  Try treating it like normal allergies--if it goes away or gets better, great, and if not, call a doctor to get checked out. Also, with mono you'd be feeling incredible fatigue and would have swollen glands--which doesn't sound like what you're describing. I'm sure you're fine!<3 "Do not ask yourself what the world needs. My roomate had mono last year and it lasts a LOOOONG time so I wouldnt stress over 2 days. That and he looked like death for at least a month after he got it, it drains all of your energy and you don't want to do anything but eat a little bit and then sleep forever. He probably slept at LEAST 10 hours a day every single day when he had it so don't worry you don't seem to have it.
You CAN get it from someone who has had it in the past and on occasion when children are younger they can get it by sharing a cup with an adult who has had it in the past. It seems to be similar to the chicken pocks in the fact that it is not as harmful to children as it is to adults but that is not something you should stress about. If she says she has never had it, odds are she has never had it and there is nothing to stress over. Edit: mind you this is what my roommate last year told me after his visit to the doctor. |
