Sick ): - January 27th 2010, 02:29 AM

Wanted to post this to see what you guys thought or if anyone had been through something similar.

About two years ago I started having horrible jaw pains, where my jaw would lock up and I would have the most painful headaches/jaw-aches. I saw my GP and was referred to an oral-maxillofacial surgeon. He diagnosed TMJ-disfunction (surprise surprise) and prescribed me a bit of Valium and a suggestion to 'relax a little bit.' Now the Valium did not help at all and I ended up in hospital multiple times with high BP and pulse, often with loss of conciousness and respiratory distress. I never get warning when it's going to happen, I will just be laying there and it will suddenly come over me. The horrible thing is it NEVER happens at home. I am always on a school camp or a cadets exercise, so my parents never end up seeing the same doctors I do.

Lately, I've been getting sicker though. My joints feel like they are on fire (hip and knees in particular) and my back is aching. I can't sleep, always have headaches and seem to pick up every little bug going around. I've started having chest pains as well (though not to the stage where I am too worried about them).

I've been shuttled from doctor to doctor, had MRI's, almost literally hundreds of x-rays and CT scans, been sedated to stop the jaw pain. All they can seem to do in A&E is to give me IV fluid and reccommend seeing another specialist. I've been prescribed Celebrex (arthritis medication), Valium, Panadeine Forte, Calcium and Magnesium supplements, and various antibiotics to no avail. I feel like I'm going insane.

So, long post, any suggestions?
I'd appreciate anything at this point (:

I'm no doctor, but your symptoms sound a lot like Lyme disease or Osteomyelitis. Whenever I have a problem I use WebMD's symptom checker, so maybe you can try that out.

Waitin' for my ruca.

Hey thanks for your quick reply.
I would seriously consider Lyme disease, but I'm in Australia and it's pretty rare here (as in most hospitals don't even consider it). So I don't think that's it.
My doctor seems to think it's nothing, and that's the annoying part about it.
I know something is wrong with me, but no-one else seems to acknowledge it!
