Exclamation whole body really itchy! - January 30th 2009, 11:40 PM

For the past few days my body but mostly my neck & back but in face and scalp area, my legs, chest, and stomach too. Everywhere I'm itchy & once I scratch it gets worse & starts to burn, my skin gets really red from scratching even if I hardly scratched hard. I'm not taking any meds or anything different to make me allergic to something or have a reaction, the only thing I can thing of is that I washed my bed comforter with a different laundry detergent then I always use but I took it off my bed yesterday and still even after I take a shower am itchy like crazy. It comes and goes. I have some lotion that helps but I have no idea why I'm itchy. Before I was itchy I noticed red blotches or patches on my skin that weren't really itchy but warm. They wen't away but it looks like that after I scratch. So I'm really confused & hopefully someone could help me figure out what it is. Also I'm having a bunch of other health issues like I threw up today but not a lot cuz I haven't been having an appitate to eat much. Plz help, I'm itchy as we speak lol.

that sounds alot like an allergic reaction, it might be an idea to wash everything that you're comforter came in contact with because the molecules will have rubbed off on it so if you're wearing the same pjs then that will be putting it back on you're skin

i no this is really really really hard not to do (i have super bad reactions to everything lol) but you really really can't scratch it there is something called the itch stratch cycle which pretty much means once you start scratching it, it will just get itcher and you will stratch more which can cause infection if you break the skin

to ease it have you tried taking over the counter allergy medicines like piroten?

if it doesn't ease off having washed everyhting you might want to get allergy tests done at a doctors

good luck

You didn't change soaps or anything, did you? If it's your laundry detergent, everything is going to need to be washed again, like Fiona said.

If the itchiness doesn't go away on it's own, you should see a doctor for scratch tests (allergy testing) and possibly medication. You could also call your doctor or a pharmacist about over the counter medications.

Someday I will be strong enough to lift not one but both of us.

I had the same reaction to our laundry detergent. We use dye free now and went away. Try switching detergents but if it's really horrible or gets worse, see a doctor.

Go to your doctor or local hospital, it sounds like you have hives but we aren't medical proffesionals, and can't diagnose you. You might be having an allergic reaction to the detergent, and need to get help from the doctor. You might need some medicine(s) to help clear the itchy rash up. Good luck hope you feel better soon.
