Sweating - January 31st 2009, 05:43 AM

I'm a really heavy sweater, and it is really getting to me I get really big sweat marks they are massive they go half way down my top. and its looks awful, im using the strongest deodrant i can buy in the shops, mitchum and at night i put on tripple dry and talcum powder but i still sweat loads and loads. theres lots of tops i wana wear that i cant wear because sweat marks show up badly. last night i nearly broke down and was nearly crying because of it. its ruining me, literally im so aware of me sweating i get worked up about it. i am gona go doctors about it but im embrassed, and i am already usi ng the strongest deodrant you can by in the shops its just not working. its getting me down loads.

Hey,
I've had a similar problem. I went to the doctors and had botox injections in my armpit which were mainly for the excessive sweating in my hands but any sweating that occurred in my armpits sort of slowed quite a bit too. They don't last forever though, you have to keep going back every like year/six months and I only went once cos I couldn't be bothered. Its worth a shot though seriously, I think it could help.
There are other things you can do like have your nerve clipped which is a permanent thing...stops sweating. Isn't guarenteed to work but it usually does in most cases.
Perhaps you suffer from anxiety, have you ever considered that? Maybe treat that instead of the sweating?
There is a product called Driclor which is pretty good...u can get it from pharmacies or order it online. It was pretty good when I tried it. I think you also have to realise that its a fairly common problem and loads of people do actually have it. It's just really embarrassing. Just be open about it and you'll probably ease up about it..as a result probably sweat a bit less.
As for clothes and things..I had a similar problem and so I sewed breast pads (the things u use when you are pregnant) to the armpits of my clothes and that absorbed the sweat. That was for when I was in a play..or i'd sew them on a top underneith the top I was wearing.
I also stay away from cans of deoderant, I find they make me sweat more. Stick with roll on. Deoderant doesn't actually help sweating, it'd just combat the smell. More often than not your sweat probably doesn't even smell, it's just sweat. At least thats the way I was.
If you want anymore help PM me. Love Ally x

it doesn't hurt like hell. You hardly feel most of it.
the effects of most deoderants will wear off. Generally your 2 options are the botox and having your nerve clipped.

It sounds like anxiety - if you're not too sure you could always see your doctor about it
