This sounds a lot like sleep paralysis:

Of course only a doctor can officially diagnose you

I know exactly wot you're talking about, i've had it as well-- sleep paralysis, indeed. It's SCARY.. hate the feeling more than anything used to get it a lot. Only thing I can suggest is get good night's sleep every night.

I love the name of honour more than I fear death.

Yes, this is sleep paralysis. And it's creepy.

I used to hear things if I went into an episode - and I never realized that it was sleep paralysis, I always felt like if I moved even an inch something would jump out and kill me - so I literally thought I was just too scared to move. I'd hear scratching at my bedroom door and always this static sound in the backround - one time I thought that I saw the bedroom door open and saw someone look in at me.

Scary, scary stuff. Once I realized it was sleep paralysis, I was able to talk myself out of it and avoid any panic attacks(I've found that panicking only makes it worse).

If it happens again, remember to just breathe, tell yourself that it's only sleep paralysis, and nothing bad is happening. You'll come out of it soon enough. I haven't had an episode for over a year now, and I think it's because I'm aware of what's going on.
