Vomitting Remedies - March 5th 2010, 09:19 AM

So I've been up all night vomitting in 30 minute intervals and having diahrea more or less at the same time.

My Mom just went to go buy me some sprite or gingerale and some medicine that might help me stop vomitting.

But I wanna know if any of you guys have your own remedies to help stop or at least slow vomitting. I've been told that drinking small sips of water helps- but I've been doing that and I just throw it back up. I need to eat or drink something- not only to keep hydrated, but also to get the vomitty taste out of my mouth. and Gingerale is supposed to help, but if Walgreens doesn't have it, then we're going with sprite (I can't wait)

So what do you guys do?

To get the taste out of my mouth I usually have a frozen ice lolly. It's cool and soothing, and it's flavoured so it's nice. And it's not like you're eating anything to throw back up.

As for food, if you need to eat, dry food is best. Plain crisps, plain biscuits and bread with nothing on it.

I hope you have seen a doctor as to why you're throwing up like this. It seems like something bad!

Hope you get better.

Have you been to the doctors? The vomitting could be signs of food poisoning, or a number of other things.

Re: Vomitting Remedies - March 5th 2010, 11:19 AM

I have a feeling that it's food poisoning. But idk. No, I haven't been to the doctor's because my symptoms didn't start until late last night.

I took the medicine and then threw it back up. Which made me feel better. I guess that some of the medicine is still in my system though, because I feel better than I did before. The only problem with the medicine is that I'm not supposed to eat or drink after taking it- which is bad, because I've lost a lot of fluids just in the past 8 hours.

I would definitely recommend going to the doctors, just to make sure it's nothing really serious. And they should be able to offer some advice on how to manage.

I'm feeling a little bit better now that I've eaten some crackers and drinken some sprite- which filled up some of my upset and hungry stomach. I don't think I could pull of sleeping just yet, but at least I can eat and stand up without feeling dizzy.

When I was pregnant and had bad morning sickness, I ate ginger snaps and drank tons of powerade. I couldn't handle sprite, the carbonation made it worse. And for some reason plain water made me vomit more... Lemon and mint is supposed to help to. And when you are feeling really sick but your tummy is empty, eating a little something anyway actually helped.

Like everyone else has said, I would go see your doctor. Also maybe try some gravol. The best way to get better is rest, as well try BRAT (Banana's, Rice, Applesauce, and Toast)

I did that when I was sick and was feeling better the next day.

Good luck

I think I've tried this before and it worked. Ginger pills.

I went to the doctor and he thinks it's a nasty virus. But I had to take a culture test. He gave me meds and reccommendations. I'm gonna drink gatorade or pedilight and take meds! Woohoo!
